Napkins serve not only as a means to an end, but can also be used creatively and individually. Next to flower arrangements and other table decorations, they can become a real eye-catcher on the table and underline the motto of the event. With simple steps you can fold beautiful shapes suitable for your table decoration, which will also be well received by your guests. Here we show you three simple folding techniques that are ready in no time.

The napkin wave

Napkin wave is a simple folding technique and requires only a few steps. Moreover, the napkins do not even need to be unfolded, which saves you time. The finished wave is suitable for many events such as weddings or parties with different themes. It works with paper or cloth napkins.

Here's how it works:

Place the napkin with one corner up, so that at the bottom is the corner with the different layers.
Now fold the bottom corner of the first layer to the top corner.
Take the corner of the second layer and fold it up as well, but not all the way to the corner. Make sure to slide the layer under the first one.
Now fold the last layer up and under the previous one again.
Now fold the corner of the first folded layer down towards the table so that it is no longer visible.
Now the napkin wave is ready and can be placed decoratively on a plate or table.

The letter

Just as simple as the wave is the folding of the napkin into a letter. This folding technique is ideal especially for formal events. A name card or a small message for the guests completes the decoration. You can also store cutlery in this letter. You are free to choose the material, color and pattern.

How to fold the letter:

Unfold the napkin so that you have a rectangle with two long sides and two short sides.
Now fold the bottom short side in half.
Do the same for the top short side.
Now fold the top right and left corners in half to make a triangle.
The large top triangle is now folded towards the bottom.
Finished is the napkin letter!

The Tafelspitz

Tafelspitz is probably the most famous way to fold napkins. The shape is quickly folded, timeless and looks very classy. The Tafelspitz is suitable for any event and table decoration. It can be folded from paper napkins or cloth napkins. When using paper napkins, make sure that you use sturdy models so that the Tafelspitz does not topple over.

How to fold the table tip:

Unfold the napkin, now place the top half of the napkin on the bottom.
Now take the top left corner and fold it in the middle of the bottom side.
Then do the same with the top right corner.
Now fold the right corner of the large triangle to the left corner.
Finally, set up the napkin and you're done!
